World Tolerance Day

Happy World Tolerance Day...

And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. [17;23]

BEING A DUTIFUL CHILD
A man came to the Prophet and said: “I have come to pledge to you my loyalty and to emigrate. I have left my parents in tears. The Prophet said to him: “Go back to them and make them smile as you have made them cry.”
(Related by Al-Bukhari, Muslim and others).
In other words, the Prophet gave a very clear indication to the man that if his parents would be so miserable as to cry because he was leaving them in order to emigrate, then he was better off staying with them in order to make them happy. The Prophet did not wish that sadness should be felt by parents as a result of a duty Islam required of its followers.
Consider this Hadith reported by Ibn Abbas: “For any Muslim who has two Muslim parents and who goes to them every morning obeying their requests, Allah opens two doors to heaven. If he has one parent Allah opens one door to heaven for him. If he displeases either of them, Allah will not be pleased with him until that parent of his is pleased with him. Someone asked: Even when they are unjust to him? He answered: Even if they are unjust.”
Abu Hurairah reported that a person came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and asked: “Who among people is the most deserving of my fine treatment?” The prophet (peace be upon him) replied: “Your Mother.” He asked again: “Who next?” The prophet replied: “Your Mother.” He asked again: “Who next?” The prophet said again, “Your Mother.” He again asked, “Then who?” The prophet said: “Your Father.”
“It's an universal law-- intolerance is the first sign of an inadequate education. An ill-educated person behaves with arrogant impatience, whereas truly profound education breeds humility.”
― Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

“In the practice of tolerance, one's enemy is the best teacher.”
― Dalai Lama XIV
The highest result of education is tolerance.
Helen Keller
What is tolerance? It is the consequence of humanity. We are all formed of frailty and error; let us pardon reciprocally each other's folly - that is the first law of nature.
Voltaire
Tolerance is the virtue of the man without convictions.
Gilbert K. Chesterton
Acceptance and tolerance and forgiveness, those are life-altering lessons.
Jessica Lange
Islam teaches tolerance, not hatred; universal brotherhood, not enmity; peace, and not violence.
Pervez Musharraf

Tolerance is an essential requirement for societies to co-exist in peace and harmony, away from cultural, religious or political issues.
